Carlos Blanco Artero

Carlos Blanco is a visual artist who stands out for his meticulousness and for solving a highly complex formal problem: how to display a tumultuous, deformed reality with successive agglomerations in a completely harmonious and aesthetically pleasing manner. Nothing he presents is the result of chance; his harmonious color palette, balanced compositions, rich textures, and continuous experimentation with volume and stroke demonstrate exhaustive preliminary planning. His technical and formal rigor prevail over conceptual depth, which seems to be subjected to a dance between the traditional values of plastic arts: color, composition, texture, stroke, volume, and depth.

America

"Clouds (America)" reflects on the current situation that the United States is going through; an environment of constant tension and friction, both in its national and international context. The clouds, created with the technique of defocusing, only hint at small fragments of sky, hoping that the storm will pass as soon as possible.

Picasso

The "Picasso" series was born from Blanco's need to come face to face with what he considers the greatest artist of all time. Many artists, including Picasso himself, wait until their late period to engage in these dialogues with some of the greatest artists of all time (he did so with Velázquez, Manet, and Delacroix), but Carlos Blanco felt it was the right time to create this series of works. He also wants it to be a dialogue, especially formal and in terms of color, with some of Pablo Picasso's best and most representative works. This series is intended to be exhibited together in the near future in a major exhibition honoring the painter from Malaga.

Fiesta

This series originated from his first trip to New York, where contemplating the work of Francis Picabia inspired a new line of work, where figuration takes a back seat, and drawing becomes the vehicle for representing organic forms accompanied by harmonious colors. Sobredosis, Fiesta, Blue in pink, etc., are some examples that could be cataloged within this series. The use of horror vacui loads these compositions with information, making them exhausting for the viewer while simultaneously relaxing due to the predominance of sensual curved forms and the absence of excessive straight planes or aggressive edges.

Neofiguración

Its origins linked to illustration are evident in numerous representations, where drawing is established as the protagonist. The line intermingles with the stain but does not lose prominence; the representation and meticulousness of the drawing are torn in his compositions, showing fragmented areas or areas of great virtuosity. These detailed planes, which often reveal pseudo-surrealist images, are complemented by brushstrokes or defined areas, adding depth to superb compositions.

Iptics

In this variation, the author focuses on creating works formed by diptychs, triptychs, or polyptychs. The process begins with a drawing of random shapes, very little thought-out, which creates images that the artist colors in a similarly intuitive manner, without initially seeking any recognizable form. Once this is done, and after exhaustive observation by the artist, he intervenes in certain areas with techniques such as blurring, highlighting, or underlining to suggest and draw attention to figures or elements closely linked to the work's title, thus becoming a game between the viewer and the work that generates an interesting interaction based on exploration and interpretation.

Crowds

A style with a strong inspiration from George Condo's work, characterized by the representation of crowds with line prevailing over plane and white spaces as silences. The convergence of painting with drawing and abstraction with figuration is faithfully represented. These are works that reveal a refined technique where the line seems to flow freely while being contained within planes of muted colors, the most vibrant palette seen in other variations seems to fade.
