Montserrat Gómez Osuna

Montserrat Gómez Osuna's work is characterized by a pictorial language in which lyrical and gestural abstraction intertwines with a subtle evocation of the organic and the architectural. Her work is built from superimposed chromatic strata, transparencies, and glazes that generate deep spatial atmospheres, where color acts as living matter. Formally, the artist articulates open compositions, with controlled rhythm, in which free strokes and contained structures coexist, achieving a balance between spontaneity and order. Conceptually, her painting functions as a space for contemplation and emotional resonance, exploring memory, inner nature, and the sensory experience of time. The quality of her work lies in the ability to transform the pictorial surface into a transit space, between the visible and the intangible, inviting the viewer to inhabit a poetic and meditative territory.

Still lifes

Montserrat Gómez Osuna's still life series is characterized by a contemporary reinterpretation of the still life, where everyday objects such as glasses, vases, or containers are transformed into presences charged with silence and symbolism. Through mixed media on board, the artist works with layers of color, glazes, and transparencies that generate atmospheres suspended between the real and the imagined. Formally, her compositions are structured with a precise balance between recognizable forms and open spaces, suggesting both intimacy and abstraction. These still lifes do not describe the domestic literally, but rather transform it into a poetic territory in which objects dialogue with inner landscapes. Conceptually, they open up as scenarios for contemplation, where the everyday is elevated to symbolic and meditative experience.

Interior Landscapes - Geometric and Organic

In the series of interior landscapes, Montserrat Gómez Osuna explores silent spaces where the absence of the human figure is compensated by the presence of geometric and organic forms that emerge as symbols. Technically, she works on rigid supports —wood or board— applying layers of paint and glazes that generate atmospheric depth and a subtle contrast between chromatic planes. Formally, these compositions are structured as open scenarios, halfway between abstraction and architectural evocation. Geometric elements act as presences that alter the calm of the space, imbuing it with mystery and unease. Conceptually, the series invites reflection on memory, emptiness, and the emotional dimension of places inhabited from within.

Three-dimensional objects

In her transition to ceramics, Montserrat Gómez Osuna transfers her pictorial language to the three-dimensional realm, creating objects such as vases, helmets, or containers that function both as autonomous sculptures and as extensions of her canvases. Technically, she uses red or white clay worked with slips and glazes, applying pictorial gestures —glazes, lines, and marks— to the surface, making the clay a living support. Formally, these pieces are defined by sober and forceful volumes, where basic geometry is combined with a visual skin loaded with chromatic nuances. The artist thus explores materiality and tactile dimension, expanding painting towards the objectual. Conceptually, this series presents the work as a symbolic container, a space of memory and spiritual resonance that invites us to inhabit the everyday through artistic contemplation.
