About the artist
María Argüelles was born in Madrid in 1988. After graduating in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid (2012), she decided to pursue a degree in Fine Arts (2014-2017 UCM). Her work focuses on several lines of research; on the one hand, she is interested in studying the possibilities of painting in contemporaneity, and on the other, in the boundary that exists between the intimate and the public. She has exhibited both collectively and individually in Madrid. Before starting her studies, in 2011, she received the Young Author award at the VIII National Painting Competition Pincel Verde (Madrid). In 2017, she participated in the II First-Person Film Showcase with the audiovisual piece 1975/1988 (Cine Estudio, Madrid). Currently, María Argüelles lives and works in Madrid.
