Rodrigo Ramírez Rodríguez was born on June 9, 1988, in Mexico City. Between 2007 and 2011, he studied Visual Arts at "La Esmeralda." Parallel to his studies, he worked in Germán Venegas's studio, with whom he also took drawing and painting classes. Driven by his interest in philosophy, he took philosophy of cinema seminars at the UNAM Film Archive. He has exhibited in venues such as the Museo Británico Americano, Fundación Sebastián in Mexico City, Museo de la Ciudad in Querétaro, Biblioteca Vasconcelos, Museo Manuel Felguérez, Galería Libertad, and Galería Castelli Art Space in Los Angeles, and Museo de la Ciudad de México. He has been selected in various competitions, notably the Julio Castillo edition 2015, Arte Joven 2017, and Arte Lumen 2018. He recently completed the Zona_seis residency at Galería Luis Adelantado. Upon completion of the residency, he was part of the collective exhibition "Historias de la Materia" held at the same gallery. He participated in the Zona MACO México art fair. He has received the FONCA grant for Young Creators twice, in 2012 and 2017 respectively. His work has been reviewed in several publications for collective exhibitions. He recently had a solo exhibition at Galería Luis Adelantado titled "La imagen ausente." His painting attempts, through poetry and the plastic manipulation of images, to access an experience of the world where media and effective communication and domination mechanisms lose their effectiveness.
