The nature of time

The "The Nature of Time" series delves into the philosophical and scientific complexities of time, exploring the tension between its physical dimension and our subjective perception. Through references to presentism, eternalism, and the theory of relativity, it poses questions about the "arrow of time" and its apparent irreversible direction. The artist connects these reflections with the imaginaries of science fiction, where time travel and narrative paradoxes are speculated upon. Thus, the work combines conceptual rigor with a poetic approach, inviting us to question whether time is an external reality or a construction of consciousness. Ultimately, it reminds us that our experience of time is anchored in two vital coordinates: birth and death.

Diego Ascencio is a young Mexican artist who combines photography and painting in his work. Ascencio Fuentes' work explores the visual relationship between certain defined elements and their abstract counterpart, acting as a translation of the constructed, considering color as a language, also, as one of the discourses proposed by architecture and its interaction with spatial experience. On the other hand, Ascencio Fuentes presents in his work a way of stopping time and physically deforming it, usually by elongating specific moments, thus creating a utopian idea in the permanence of memory, which he defines as ‘Chromatic Memories’. His career has so far focused on his native Mexico, participating in major national fairs and making the leap to Europe by participating in Barcelona (Spain) at SWAB.
