Jorge Gallego develops a rigorous pictorial practice focused on experimentation with the perception of space, light, and geometry, where the representation of landscape acquires an almost abstract dimension. His work is based on a meticulous technical process that combines traditional procedures with a contemporary exploration of the image, resulting in compositions of high formal precision and atmospheres of great subtlety. Through a restrained palette and an almost material treatment of color, Gallego generates scenes of apparent serenity that, nevertheless, activate a latent tension between the real and the constructed. The quality of his work lies in his ability to transcend mimesis, transforming the landscape into a mental and symbolic space, and demonstrating an uncommon plastic maturity, supported by a deep knowledge of the medium and a constant desire for formal refinement.
