Fabricio Lara (Oruro, Bolivia, 1966) belongs to the second generation of an artistic family, which marked his childhood with training in family workshops and daily artistic practice. He later consolidated his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Major University of San Andrés (UMSA) in La Paz. Recognized as one of the great representatives of Latin American Magical Realism, his work oscillates between figuration and abstraction, with a strong imprint of pre-Columbian cultures and the primeval imaginaries of humanity. Based on a rigorous study of earth colors and muted tones characteristic of these traditions, Lara has achieved a subtle and refined handling of color, with modulations that reflect great control over chromatic temperature. His painting, with a lyrical and symbolic atmosphere, connects the ancestral with the contemporary, projecting a poetics where the mythical and the spiritual dialogue with the human. Fabricio Lara is an internationally recognized artist, a regular participant in art fairs in both Latin America and the United States and Europe, with a prominent presence in reference events such as ARCO Madrid, where he has repeatedly showcased the solidity and originality of his proposal.
